Sinhu Village of Jinhu Township

The Jinhu Township governs 8 administrational villages and among them, the Sinhu Village is located at the south foot of Taiwu Mountain with scope extending to Bailong River at east, Siasing at west, South Coast at south and Central Road at north. The village consists of 7 natural villages, namely Hucian, Tahou, Houyuan, Yucun (Fishing village), Sintou, Lindou and Sinyi New Village, where the residents’ occupation include agriculture, fishery, industrial work, commerce, government affairs and teaching.

Tahou:

The old name for Tahou was “Chihou” and the main route of moving started from Cyuanjhou to Hucian in Kinmen, and finally settled at Chihou. The surname for most villagers is Chen and many of them are related to each other. The Chen’s Shrine is established in the community, where the relative elder, Chen Kuo-Min would host the worshipping to ancestors on every Tomb-sweeping Day and Winter Solstice for social activity among the relatives.

The central belief of Tahou village is the Guan Yu enshrined in Jhongyi Palace, which was constructed during Guangsyu Era of Cing Dynasty with establishment of Administration Committee. Mr. Chen Shuei-tong is the President and the ceremony is carried out on 13^th May under Chinese lunar calendar every year. Based on feng-shui consideration, the village mainly faces the north-east orientation (東北,亞南朝內) and this can be clearly seen from the conventional buildings that still exist, which are mostly in the form of (一落四櫸) with Shi-Cun-Ren-Yu Construction Method (石村人宇砌構法). The significant representative is the original residence No. 19 of Tahou located next to Jhongyi Palace. The Community Development Center has been established in 2001 and the Chairman, Chen Kuo-min holds community social gathering on the 3 major festivals every year.

Sinyi New Village:

The Village is located at Sibian and close to the ocean, which is in front of Hucian, Jinhu Township. In 1982, 105 houses were built to cooperate with the Land Bank for mortgage on national households. The Community Development Center has been established in 1993 and the incumbent Chairman, Lee Kuo-ming holds various community activities every year.
